Why have a clean engine room?

It is often dark, loud, scary, hot, cramped, and greasy in a lot of engine rooms. There are only a few reasons to ever spend a lot of time down there, mostly when things go wrong. To limit the amount of time in an engine room when something goes wrong, keep it clean! This will help spot leaking oil, or any other potential problems before they get serious. Take pride in keeping your manly engines show room clean (show it off to your friends/clients, everyone will be impressed), your yacht will thank you as well.
